Website performance study
April 2026
Most service-business websites are slower than they look.
A Lighthouse audit of public home-service websites across common builder and provider categories, measuring whether polished sites actually clear Google's mobile performance threshold.
Key findings
- GoDaddy and Squarespace samples averaged far below the 90 performance threshold.
- Freelancer and local agency builds performed better, but still missed the benchmark on average.
- Visual polish did not reliably predict mobile speed or technical quality.
